These potraits have been captured by Georges Revoil, a famous French traveller-photographer who was one of the first European explorers to set foot inside the Horn of Africa. He visited Ardul Somali (including Ethiopia) all the way to Zanzibar.

    Hi,congratulations for your book.

I want to write a book about the history of Somalia.

I would like to know your opinion about Ogaden War in 1977-78

I heard Somalia was defeated by Cuba and Soviet Union.

    Did Somalia lose the war?

I don’t think that Somalia had lost the 77-78 war to Ethiopia but it was the Russian that sided with the Ethiopians and to hide their involvement in the war have used Cubans as foot soldiers with Russian modern weapons such as Mig23 and tanks T76.

Need more information please feel free to contact me @ hyasuf@hotmail.com.

Somalis lost the war. They were tricked by Arabs and they didn’t plan well in advance. Nonetheless it was an unnecessary war and we are still paying the price for it.
